Why should I join Clitheroe & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce?
Members old and new are having their say and working hard to revitalise the Chamber to become the force it should be, to support business in and around Clitheroe. Have your say in improving commercial interests and trade in our local area and help support your community.
The Chamber hasn’t really been pro active for a few years, why has it reformed?
A handful of business owners decided to get together to re establish the Chamber at the end of 2008. Over the following few months the essential foundations were built. In June 2009 a Summer Chill Event was held at Clitheroe Castle to see if there was other interest and find out if the Chamber is still relevant. Turns out it is – 60 willing and enthusiastic people turned up for an open discussion and networking event.
I have concerns regarding a local issue. Who should I approach?
That’s exactly what we’re here for – through our interaction with regional & national government we can help to highlight and resolve business problems and needs.
I’ve heard that meetings are the 2nd Tuesday in every month. I have other commitments that evening.
No problem – we have now set up a members’ blog where minutes, agendas and event information are regularly published. Feedback and comments are welcomed via the blog or by email to a committee member. We still value your input even if you can only attend a meeting every so often.
If I can’t come to meetings what other opportunity will I have to meet other members?
Following the success of the Summer Chill Event in June we hope to repeat similar networking events from time to time. By interacting with other members we create awareness of services provided, which leads to an increase in mutual trading opportunities.
I’d like to be involved but I don’t have the time to take on any other commitments.
By joining Clitheroe & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce you are involved. We appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm and involvement no matter how much or little time they can offer.
I don’t have an email address.
We’ll make sure that you get your minutes and information by paper, although it may take us slightly longer to deliver them to you. We have plenty of members who’ll be happy to help you set up a free email account. We think you’ll see the benefits of being able to get the information via email instantly.
I feel a bit daunted walking into a meeting for the first time.
We’ve ALL been there! We’re a welcoming bunch of folk with lots to offer and even more to gain from you. We hope to create and foster a spirit of goodwill, friendship and unity amongst the business community.
Can I come along to a meeting before I join to see if I think the Chamber is relevant to my business?
Of course, you’re very welcome to come along. Just contact one of the committee members first to let us know.
